Extracurricular Activities
After-school programs and extracurricular activities provide a richer environment to help students learn and grow. At North Avondale Montessori, students have access to a variety of programs and activities to explore their interests.
Programs
Suzuki
Preschool-6th Grade. Suzuki Cooperative of Cincinnati Public Schools offers lessons in violin, cello, and flute at NAM during the school day. Requires a parent learning with their child (accompanying child to lessons), daily listening, and daily home practicing. Fee: $250/quarter; $100/year for free/reduced lunch families.
Meeting Time: Weekly individual lesson and weekly group lesson. Varies by teacher.

Clubs
Acting
Grades 1-6. Improve your child’s creativity quotient score while they learn to work and think creatively with others, take on stage fright and speaking in front of an audience, and problem solve with a group while becoming more self-reliant.

Art After Hours Club
Grades 4-6. Creations will involve the following:

Lego Robotics
K-6 students. Teams program an autonomous LEGO robot to solve a problem (last year’s team worked on solutions to natural disasters).
Fee: $50/semester. Alternative fee arrangements are possible.

Science Club
Grades 1-6 (maximum enrollment: 24). A club for kids who love science! We do experiments, learn about the scientific method, and see how science impacts us every day. Safety gear and all necessary items for experiments will be provided.
Meeting Time: 1st and 3rd Monday of each month (January/February — 1st and 4th Monday) from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Student Council
Grades 4-6. Student Council is an afterschool organization devoted to enriching student leadership and involvement in the school and local community. At NAM, students in 4th, 5th and 6th grade are eligible to write an essay expressing their desire to join student council. Essays are due .
Meeting Time: 1st meeting to take place Tuesday, Sept 30th, after school.

Tumbling
Grades 4 - 6 - Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday after school - 2:15 pm - 3:30 pm.
Coach Amy Lehn will teach the students the fundamental and advance skills of tumbling.
2 classes offered:Beginning and Advance
Beginning - This is an introduction class to the exciting world of tumbling. They will work on proper equipment. Students will learn simple rolls, handstands, cartwheels, bridges, front and back kick-overs and walkover.
Advance - Students will gain bounding strength to be able to move forward into Back Handspring class. Focus is placed on body awareness and what proper muscles are needed to move through tumbling skills safely.
No charge to the students - Permission slips are required for signing up. Limited space available. First come, First serve.

Yoga & Creativity Club
Grades K-4. The Yoga & Creativity Club engages the whole child in fun yoga poses, storytelling yoga, creative thinking, emotional mastery, singing, dancing, and visual art creation while enhancing mindfulness & self-esteem.
Meeting Time: Tuesdays 2:20 - 3:20 p.m. in NAM Gym.

Sports
SAY Soccer
Boys and girls ages 6-11 (ages 12-13 if there is enough interest). NAM offers Fall and Spring SAY (Soccer Association for Youth) teams. Registration info is sent home via NAM News and NAM Rocket News Email announcements. Fall registration typically due end of May. Spring registration typically due end of January.
Season/Dates: Fall and Spring. Games are on Saturdays and Sundays; practices are during the week and vary by coach.
